Planning the timeline was fun in the beginning. Eventually, it got down to the tough decisions and became tedious. There was so much we wanted, and it all had to squeeze together. I was surprised to see what a small portion of the timeline the wedding was. Much of it was prep-work (my day before was also hectic with eyebrow threading, mani-pedis, the rehearsal, and rehearsal dinner).

I saw these beautiful aisle signs on Pinterest and looked up their price on Etsy and didn't want to pay that much, so I decided to make my own. I also realized that the large ones looked better, but they might get knocked over as people sat down, so I decided to create smaller hanging ones. (I also wanted to get white lanterns for next to the chairs, but that's an idea that didn't pan out). Here's how I made aisle signs for less than $50.
There's really no point on reflecting on your wedding. You can't change it, and you hope you don't have another one. However, maybe I can document my lessons learned for someone else.
One of my friends gave me bookends for Christmas. There was an A one and a Z one, for Amber and Zach (my now husband). Because our website played on the A & Z theme, I wanted to incorporate these bookends into our wedding decor. Plus, I am a huge fan of utilizing wedding decor around my home, or my home decor in my wedding. Here is how I made the card-box.
I gained a lot of weight while dating my now husband. Dating usually involves a lot of going out to eat, especially when both parties live in the dorm with only a microwave. My fiance and I love food. When one of us are sad, the other offers them some food as an easy fix. Or when one of us were hungry, we both would eat, even if we weren't hungry ourselves. Times that by four years of dating and you get a lot of extra bulge.
After a year and a half of wedding planning, we needed a nice getaway. When looking for honeymoon destinations, we were pretty locked into the Sandals chain because it included all inclusive scuba diving. We got our PADI Scuba Diving Certifications a few years ago at Table Rock Lake and never had a chance to scuba dive in the ocean. Sandals is more geared towards beginners, so we thought it would be the perfect place to wet our fins.
Ceremonies are all about first looks. First looks with your groom, your parents, your bridal party, and your guests. I decided to have a first look with just my groom before the ceremony and here's why:
You have all those big ticket items and still a few months to go. What's left? Here's a list of even more things to stress about:
We never consciously decided to have a long engagement. We got engaged during proposal (Christmas) season, and started looking at venues a month later, after we came back from our tour of Europe. The venue we decided on had half off the room rental if the wedding was on a Sunday, so we decided to get married on the Sunday before Memorial Day. This left us with nearly a year and a half engagement. With only a few days left until the wedding, I look back and reflect on our amazing engagement period and why I liked having those 17 months.
